...background
Borne from the ethos of Men’s Shed, (‘google’ it to find out more) formed to target a social need for those who have had a major change in their lives or just a place to go to meet others…

Newtownabbey Men’s Shed (I know not very original!) is a group that has been established for over 3 years now, mainly for men within the Newtownabbey area (...though everyone is welcome).  Please check out the ‘Calendar’ page to see what is happening, or Activities to find out what we have done!

More information about Men's Sheds within N. Ireland can be found at GroundworkNI, click here.
...why?
Many older men within the Newtownabbey local area lose some sense of purpose with the loss of their work role, status, workmates, income or when their personal circumstances change dramatically for the worse, and can find themselves disengaged from their community.

If the pub or sports is not their thing they could rapidly find themselves alone & with little to occupy their time.
...reason
Men with their own shed have often developed their skills and interests, but in a larger facility, with better or more equipment can develop with others. Assistance by Men’s Shed can be provided for local community development activities - a Men's Shed offers something new.

Working alongside others and with a common purpose without imposed demands can be exactly what many men need.
Why Us?
If you or you know someone that would benefit from attending Newtownabbey Men's Shed, please call email us using the Contact page, or even better, call down in person, there will always be a welcome...
